The first step to our house, a foundation! Having been such a long time since having our own foundation, this makes me so excited to see this! :) We live in a high sub water area so the wall is only in the ground about 2 feet. This plan has a "daylight" basement so the walls are shorter than normal. We did this for two reasons. #1 I shoved as many windows as I could into the basement wall! (all framing) #2 We wanted the siding to go as close to the ground as possible. When houses have to be built out of the ground like this it's pretty typical for them to have fill dirt to the top floor creating a huge hill. I didn't want that! You can do a lot with landscaping but with a little planning the foundation wall can help too!
